Abstract:

The main function of the skin is to act as a protective barrier. This can be compromised following cosmetic procedures. Hyaluronic acid (HA) combined with succinic acid is an effective post-surgical treatment as it forms a film on the skin, reducing the risk of infection. It also maintains skin hydration and reduces excessive inflammation. Our in vitro studies indicated a role for succinate in stimulating fibroblast proliferation. So to investigate the effect of skin rejuvenation, a study was carried out to determine the effect of HA and succinate on collagen production. 20 healthy volunteers were randomly allocated to 2 groups. Both groups were provided oral collagen to take daily for 2 weeks. One group had a non-cross-linked form of HA combined with succinate injected into the dorsal aspect of both hands. After 2 weeks, greater collagen levels were measured in those having had the injection and taking hydrolyzed collagen, indicating that HA, succnic acid and collagen are all essential for collagen production. Therefore, redermalization with HA combined with succinate and a collagen supplement may lead to greater skin rejuvenation than collagen alone.

Abstract:

Skin aging is a progressive loss of cell functions influenced by the combination of endogenous and exogenous factors, mostly ultraviolet light (UV) exposure. This event is closely related to impairment of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) synthesis. The cutaneous extracellular matrix (ECM) is mostly composed of proteins and GAGs. The main role of GAGs is to maintain and support the structure and function of ECM, and to retain moisture. We will discuss about a new antiaging cosmetic formulation based on: Wharton Gel Complex® (WGC®), IFC-Cellular Activation Factor (IFC-CAF®) and Retinsphere® technology. WGC®, is isolated from Wharton’s jelly from the umbilical cord of pigs following a patented procedure and constituted by a unique mixture of natural GAGs that resembles the composition of a healthy ECM. IFC-CAF® is obtained by extracting the eggs from the gastropod Cryptomphalus aspersa, and is a new cosmetic ingredient rich in Growth Factors that stimulates mesenchymal stem cells and protects cells against UV-induced damage. Retinsphere® technology incorporates two topical retinoids, retinol glycospheres and hydroxypinacolone retinoate, which directly interacts with the retinoic acid receptor with similar activities but does not induce irritation. The results of this innovative combination in a significant improvement of aging skin signs will be reviewed.

Between 2011 and 2012 only 10 patients have been treated with ADRCs “Adipose-Derived Stem & Regenerative Cells” and 20 patients have been treated with fat enriched Stem Cells. In this study, we discuss the aesthetic result and regenerative action of:

  • Fat Graft
  • Fat enriched stem cells (Fat Tissue + ADRCs)
  • li>ADRCs
  • Pure Stem Cells
  • The use of fat graft with or without ADRCs provides great results in aesthetic, rejuvenation and regenerative procedures. There is an enormous amount of promise with stem cells in plastic and reconstructive surgery, which needs at least 5 years to be scientifically proven.

    Abstract:

The growing demand of clients for full body skin lightening in Asia and Africa is the main reason behind this study and Glutathione supplement with Vitamin C is proving its efficacy very well in this particular segment. Glutathione /GHS is body’s Master Antioxidant, Detoxifier and Tyrosinase Inhibitor. Glutathione is a tripeptide made up of three amino acid cysteine, glutamic acid and glyceine and is found naturally in many fruits, vegetables and meats. Supplements of Glutathione shows skin lightening as well as age defying effects! It is produced in human liver and plays a key role in intermediary metabolism, immune response and health. When glutathione is taken in a higher dosage, the pathway of melanin is altered and is proven to reverse the melanin\\\'s metabolism turning dark pigmentations (eumelanin) into light pigmentations (Phaeomelanin) by inhibiting and blocking Tyrosinase enzyme. Continuous and consistent supplementation will result into gradual skin lightening. Its dosage and results depend upon body weight as well as color of skin for eg. results visible on Light-medium brown skin: 1-3 months, Dark brown skin: 3-6 months, Very dark skin: 6-12 months & Black skin: 18 months minimum and above. A Glutathione efficacy in skin lightening works only if it is taken with Vitamin C at least equal or twice its dosage. Standard dosage is 20-40mg/kg of body weight for 3-6 months once or twice in a day and best if taken at night 2-3 hours after last meal for better absorption. It gives skin a radiant glow, Controls acne and prevents acne marks, Defies the aging process, Protect skin from sun and environmental damages, Lighten skin color, pigmentation, tan & freckles, Anti-aging & anti wrinkles- make skin smooth, fresh & radiant, Hasten healing of wounds and Nourishes skin. Abstract:

Hair Prosthesis (HP) is a valid cosmetic option for patients with advanced alopecia. We evaluated if air-compressed topical Minoxidil (Mx) may improve self-image satisfaction on those patients, by improving their remaining own-hair perception. 43 patients using HP volunteered to complete a questionnaire, inquiring about relevant perceptions during the previous 6-month period. The three specific questions were: 1. Has the aspect of your own-hair improved? 2. Has the density of you own-hair increased? 3. How relevant is for you to maintain and preserve your own-hair over time? Patients’ responses options were classified and marked as: “nothing” (score 1), “barely” (score 2), “something” (score 3) or “much” (score 4). A total score was calculated in each patient by adding up scores from questions 1 and 2. Total score 2-4 was considered poor positive-perception, while total score 5-8 was identified as good positive-perception. 31 patients received air-compressed Mx sessions every other week, during hair-care center visits (Mx Group). HP was temporarily removed before Mx application. 12 patients did receive only cosmetic care during their HP hair-care sessions without Mx application (Control Group). Control Group presented with poor positive-perception (score 2-4) 100% (12/12) and good positive-perception (score 5-8) 0% (0/12). Meanwhile Mx group demonstrated poor positive-perception (score 2-4) (13/31) (41.9%) but good positive-perception (score 5-8) 58.1% (18/31). (P<.01). To maintain and preserve the remaining own-hair was considered much relevant in most patients. Conclusion: Air-compressed topical Minoxidil (Mx) applied every other week, may improve self-image satisfaction on HP patients, by improving their remaining own-hair perception.

    Abstract:

Background: Androgenic alopecia, the most common form of alopecia, is a major indication for dermatogical consultation. Many literatures highlight nutritional deficiency as a common reason for the development of androgenic alopecia. Use of hormonal preparation and finasteride is associated with side effects of loss of sex drive or impotence. Effective and safe nutritional therapy can be a better option for the managing androgenic alopecia. Objective: Study focuses on the effect of oral supplementation of GainmoreTM M Tablets in the reduction of hair loss and promotion of new hair growth in men with androgenic alopecia. Methods: Men (n=50) with varying levels of hair loss were given GainmoreTM M Tablets once daily for 6 months. GainmoreTM M Tablets is a proprietary blend containing Saw palmetto extract and other nutritional agents. Results: 50% of the participants reported a noticeable decrease in hair loss after 45 to 60 days of treatment. 65% of participants reported significant fall in the hair loss by three months. By the end of the study, majority of men reported new hair growth. This study also suggests that GainmoreTM M brings marked improvement in new hair growth. This effect, however, seems to be more pronounced in participants at the end of fifth month of study. Conclusions: GainmoreTM M oral supplementation in men with androgenic alopecia is effective in reducing hair loss and improving hair growth in men with androgenic alopecia.
